SEPARATION ANXIETY & YOUR PET

Is your pet suffering when you're not around?

A dog with separtion anxiety can be calm and well behaved around the person (or people) to whom he is most attached, but, when left alone, exhibits signs of anxiety such as:

*Destruction (chewing, digging)
*Soiling (urination, defecation)
*Vocalization (barking, whining)

A dog with this disorder may follow you from room to room, become visibly upset when you get ready to leave and greet you over-enthusiasticaly when you return.

People used to think that dogs destroying furniture, or barking or uriniating while alone were acting out of anger or spite. Now, veterinarians recognize that these behaviors are often signs of a common disorder - separation anxiety.

Separation Anxiety can be managed and it is extremely important to do so. If ignored, it can become more severe, increasing your dog's suffering. Some dogs may escalate to the point of harming themselves or doing excessive damage to property. We have medications available to relieve your dog's anxiety and discomfort and let you stop worring every time you leave him alone.
